The Latent Daily is operated from Spain. In line with article 22.2 of Spanish Law 34/2002 (LSSI-CE) and the Spanish Data Protection Agency's (AEPD) guide on cookies, we only use non-essential cookies (analytics and personalised advertising) with your consent; rejecting them is as easy as accepting them; you can change your choice at any time; and we ask again after 12 months. Our Privacy Policy explains your rights, including how to complain to the AEPD.

1. What are cookies and local storage?

Cookies are small data files stored on your device when you visit websites. Local storage is a browser feature that lets a site keep small settings on your device without sending them to a server. The Latent Daily uses local storage only for your settings; the cookies listed below come from Google, and only when the corresponding service is active.

2. What we store on your device

Site search runs entirely in your browser and stores nothing. If you decline analytics, Google may still receive basic, cookieless measurement signals (Consent Mode) that carry no identifiers and cannot be used to recognise you across visits.

3. Third-party and advertising cookies

The Latent Daily does not sell personal data. We use Google Analytics only if you opt into the "Analytics" category — it is off by default.

Advertising (Google AdSense). The Latent Daily may show ads served by Google AdSense to keep the site free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's certified consent message before any advertising cookies are used; for them, our own banner is not shown, and "Cookie preferences" reopens Google's message so you can change your choice at any time. Elsewhere, you can turn personalised advertising off at any time with the "Advertising" category in Cookie preferences; you may still see non-personalised ads, which rely on context such as the page you are reading.

Visitors in US states with consumer privacy laws (such as California, Virginia and Colorado) also see a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link at the bottom of every page. It opens Google's opt-out message; once you opt out, your data is no longer used for personalised advertising. See Your privacy rights in US states.

You can also opt out of personalised advertising from Google in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
